(STEM) Kids Day Camp

Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Kids Day Camp

This activity was targeted to Children aged 9 to 17. 32 kids from Donald St. and 18 kids from Mooney’s Bay participated in the event. Three adults from both locations joined the group as companions and volunteers. It was held at the Boys & Girls Club of Ottawa in partnership with Jewish Family Services.

The two groups travelled from their location to the club by bus and were joined by 20 participants from the Boys & Girls Club, as well as 40 volunteers that interacted with them throughout the day.The kids and adults enjoyed refreshments and a light meal.
The overall program gave the kids an opportunity to interact with an engineer and an inventor artist, who taught them about physics and electronics, while making artificial northern lights, holograms and robots, using simple tools, materials and electronic devices.(e.g.iPhone, computers, etc.)
